USVI charter questions
How much does a private boat charter in USVI cost?
On USVI trips, captains on CharterBid usually bid about $1,200–1,650 for a private full day and about $1,150–1,600 for a half day, for the boat and captain, for a small group. Group size changes it less than you might think, because you pay for the boat, not the seat. A 15–20% tip comes on top, and a trip from the USVI into the BVI adds entry fees of $75–$90 per person. Your own trip's bids may land higher or lower.
Can I charter a boat in the USVI without a passport?
Yes. A full day within the USVI (St. Thomas to St. John, Christmas Cove, Buck Island and so on) does not require a passport for US citizens. Only trips that cross into the BVI (Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda) require passports and customs clearance.
What are the best boat charter routes in the USVI?
Popular routes include Red Hook to St. John's north shore (Trunk Bay, Maho Bay, Cinnamon Bay), Christmas Cove with Pizza Pi, Coral Bay with Lime Out, and the St. Thomas north shore with Magens Bay and Mermaid's Chair.
Is fuel included in a USVI charter?
Fuel is normally included in a standard day charter. Long open-water runs, for example St. Thomas to St. Croix, may add a fuel surcharge, so ask up front. Each captain's bid says what it covers.
