On BVI trips, captains on CharterBid usually bid about $1,600–2,000 for a private full day and about $950–1,000 for a half day, for the boat and captain, for a small group. Group size changes it less than you might think, because you pay for the boat, not the seat. BVI entry fees of $75–$90 per person and a 15–20% tip come on top. Your own trip's bids may land higher or lower.
Yes. Every guest, children included, needs a valid passport to enter the British Virgin Islands and to come back into the USVI. A trip that stays in US waters (St. Thomas, St. John, Christmas Cove) needs no passport.
BVI entry fees ($75–$90 a person, depending on the day), food and drinks ashore, and the crew tip. Fuel is usually included for Jost Van Dyke and Norman Island; far runs such as Anegada often add a fuel surcharge. Each captain's bid says what it covers.
At a BVI port of entry, most often Great Harbour on Jost Van Dyke or West End (Soper's Hole) on Tortola. Your captain handles the paperwork; you bring passports and the fees.
For four or more people a private boat often costs about the same per head as shared tours, and you pick the stops and the pace. The ferry is cheaper for one island, but it cannot take you to the Caves, Sandy Spit or the Baths in one day.
Post your trip on CharterBid and let verified BVI operators bid. Free to post, bids usually arrive within hours.
