Questions

What does a crewed yacht charter include?

Crewed weeks are usually all-inclusive: the yacht, a captain and a chef, all meals and snacks, an open bar, and the water toys with instruction. Flights, transfers between the airport and the marina, meals and activities ashore, and the crew tip (usually 15–20%, at your discretion) are extra.

How long is a crewed yacht charter?

Seven nights is typical, and most crewed yachts in the fleet we work with have a 5-night minimum. Tell us your dates and length and the fleet will say what's open.

How many guests fit on a crewed yacht?

Up to 10 guests on the larger yachts, each couple or family in a private cabin. Smaller groups get smaller yachts, so tell us who's coming, including children.

Do I need a passport?

Yes, if your week visits both the US and the British Virgin Islands: every guest needs a passport, and the captain clears customs in and out. A week that stays in one territory doesn't cross a border.

Who do I book with?

With the charter company that has the yacht. We reply by email with yachts that fit your week; they handle the contract and deposit. CharterBid may earn a referral fee if you book, at no cost to you.

Questions

Do I need sailing experience for a bareboat charter?

Yes: charter companies ask for a sailing résumé showing the skipper has handled a boat of that size. If nobody aboard has, choose "We'd like a hired captain" and we'll look for boats that can add one.

Catamaran or monohull?

Most Virgin Islands bareboats are catamarans: more room, less heel and an easy ride for groups. Monohulls sail closer to the wind and cost less. Tell us your preference, or none.

How long is a bareboat charter?

A week is typical in the Virgin Islands. Shorter charters are possible with some companies; tell us your dates and length.

Do I need a passport?

Yes, if your week crosses between the US and the British Virgin Islands: every guest needs a passport, and the skipper clears customs at a port of entry. Most bareboats leave from Tortola and stay in the BVI.

Who do I book with?

With the charter company that has the boat. We reply by email with boats that fit your week, and you book directly with them. CharterBid may earn a referral fee if you book, at no cost to you.
