USVI & BVI boat charter prices from real captains' bids
What a private boat and captain cost in the US and British Virgin Islands, summarised from the bids local captains sent on trips posted on CharterBid. It is a summary of real offers, not a rate card and not a quote: the bids on your own trip are your price.
By trip length and group size
Full day about 8 hours, half day about 4, sunset 2–3. The middle half of the bids (25th to 75th percentile), rounded to $50, for the boat and captain. The bar shows that band on one scale for the whole page; the tick is the median. A dash means too few bids to say.
| Trip | 1–6 guests | 7–12 guests | 13+ guests | All groups |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Full day | $1,600–2,000 | $1,600–2,150 | $1,800–2,900 | $1,600–2,000 |
| Half day | $1,000–1,500 | – | $1,900–2,200 | $1,000–1,900 |
Bigger groups need bigger boats, but within a size of boat you pay for the boat, not the seat. On top: a 15–20% tip, and for a day into the BVI, customs and park fees of roughly $75–$85 per person.
By departure island
Where the trip leaves from, whatever the destination. Same band and rounding as above.
| Leaving from | Full day | Half day |
|---|---|---|
| St. John (Cruz Bay) | $1,600–2,000 | – |
| St. Thomas (Red Hook) | $1,500–2,000 | $1,050–1,900 |
| Tortola (Road Town) | $1,350–1,800 | – |
By route
Full-day bids on trips from one island that went to another (a trip with several stops counts for each). Only routes with enough bids of their own are listed; each has its own page.

| St. John → Jost Van Dyke | $1,600–2,000 | $1,900 |

By month of the trip
Full days only, by the month the trip was for (all years together). Months with too few bids are left out, so read it as a rough seasonal guide, not a trend.

How the index is made
- Every figure comes from bids captains placed on trips posted on CharterBid in the US and British Virgin Islands. No rate cards, no guesses. Bids on trips that were later cancelled still count: each was a real offer.
- The range is the 25th to 75th percentile of the bids in that cell and the typical bid is the median, both rounded to $50. A cell needs at least 4 bids from at least 2 different trips, or it shows a dash.
- Trip length is what the traveller asked for (full day, half day, sunset). Group size counts adults and children. Departure island and route come from the trip's departure and destination as written.
- A route gets its own page with at least 4 trips that drew bids and 8 bids on them.
- Prices are for the boat and captain as bid. Tips, BVI fees, food and drinks ashore are on top unless a bid says otherwise.
- No traveller or captain is named; recent trips elsewhere on the site show the route, date, group and bids only.
Post your date, group and stops once; local captains send real bids and you compare them side by side. Free, no obligation.
